National advisors in Peru reviewed and provided feedback to our intervention communication outputs and discussed the results of the initial survey.

On 20 February 2025, our National Advisory Board in Peru convened at the premises of Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima. Discussions centered around the co-designed interventions and the initial survey conducted between October and December 2024.

Our research team presented the intervention package co-designed with key stakeholders, set to be implemented in Peru in 2025. The package includes an audio-message communication strategy, a capacity-building programme for healthcare professionals, didactic materials to foster patient-provider communication, and an economic fund to improve healthcare facilities. The research team also highlighted the timeline and delivery schedule for each component.

Our advisors reviewed audio messages that will be broadcast via radio and loudspeakers as spots, interview programs, and a radio soap opera. They provided feedback to enhance the content and delivery strategy to address the needs and contexts of community members, patients, and healthcare workers. Additionally, the advisors were presented with communication cards designed to facilitate patient-healthcare worker communication during consultations, as well as posters outlining the steps to treat diabetes, hypertension, and neurocysticercosis.

Following the review of the materials, the advisors stressed the importance of the capacity-building programme and enhancing the communication skills of healthcare personnel. They also offered recommendations to support its sustainability and replicability.

During the second part of the meeting, the results of the initial survey conducted in 2024 were revised and discussed. Our team described the sample composition and emphasized the challenges in achieving the planned sample and the strategies used to attain it. Methodological considerations to optimize the statistical power were also addressed, along with instruments designed to ensure that the quantitative evaluation measures align with patient satisfaction outcomes in our theory of change.

We thank our National Advisors in Peru for their time and suggestions. Our next meeting is planned for the second semester of 2025.
