Team members across partner countries engage in internal training on implementation science and scientific writing, strengthening core competencies to advance health systems research.

As part of its ongoing capacity-building efforts, our team members are currently engaged in two internal online trainings designed to strengthen their research and communication skills following evidence-based approaches. The trainings focus on implementation science and scientific writing.
Implementation Science Course
The online course aimed to enhance skills and knowledge in applying research evidence to inform program development and improve practices within health systems. Launched by The George Institute for Global Health, the four-week training program began on March 2, 2026, engaging 20 participants from the COHESION-I project, 10 from CRONICAS, and six from Global CFaH. It included participants from India, Mozambique, Nepal, Peru, Barbados, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, Fiji, and Comoros. The course comprised four self-paced modules with quizzes, weekly moderated discussion forums, and three interactive live sessions.
Learning outcomes included understanding core concepts, theories, and frameworks in implementation science; identifying how complex environments impact implementation strategies; applying problem analysis tools and logic models to link problems and interventions with desired outcomes; and exploring key evaluation approaches, as well as specific strategies used in implementation.
Scientific Writing Training
The seven-month training began on November 14, 2025 and is led by Marta Koch, Editor-in-Chief of The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology. The course is designed to strengthen skills in writing scientific manuscripts in English. Delivered through monthly live sessions, it covers manuscript preparation, peer review, and the publishing process.
The ongoing course has brought together nine participants of the NCD Policy Lab and 16 members of the COHESION-I project from India, Mozambique, Nepal, Peru, and Kyrgyzstan. The training series will conclude in May 2026 with an interactive session to discuss participants’ questions and reflections.
